Fireside chat on what needs to be done across infrastructure, R&D partnerships, and workforce development to become quantum ready. Dr Chana is Director of the Scientific Data and Computing Platforms group supporting research and development at Merck Research Labs. His group consists of Scientific Data Platform, High Performance Computing, Applied Computing, and Site Reliability Engineering teams providing capabilities and platforms for data science, scientific algorithms and software engineering. In addition, his group supports capabilities for deployment engineering, instrumentation and monitoring of software, infrastructure and lab systems. His team utilizes and supports algorithms and platforms for cutting edge Data Science and is leading an initiative to develop Quantum Computing for life science R&D within Merck. Dr Chana holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics and has 20+ years’ experience in scientific computing for the life sciences industry.

Christopher Savoie

Beyond R&D: Quantum Computing use cases across the life sciences value chain, with a focus on what’s possible in the next 1-3 years. Dr. Savoie is a published scholar in medicine, biochemistry and computer science and his research and business interests over the years have focused on the intersection of machine learning, biology, and chemistry. Dr. Savoie is the original inventor of AAOSA, the A.I.-based natural language interface technology that was used to develop Apple’s Siri. Dr. Savoie has led big data analytics efforts at Nissan and has previously founded and served as CEO of technology companies that have been acquired or exited via IPO. Dr. Savoie is also a licensed attorney and serves as the current Vice Chairman of the Big Data Committee of the American Bar Association. Savoie is a published legal expert on liability issues surrounding Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Information Security and Data Privacy.
