Quantum Science Seminar #59

4 November 2021 @ 6:00 PM 7:30 PM IST

It’s a seminar on Quantum Science for an international audience that is broadcast via live streaming. We think that you should not miss out on hearing about the latest results even if all major conferences are cancelled.

We aim to find speakers who give great talks to broad audiences. If you are a graduate student or research scientist and think that your work is related to “quantum science,” then these talks are for you.

Quantum science seminar #59: machine learning.

Speaker: Florian Marquardt

Max-Planck-Institute for the Science of Light ErlangenGermany.

Classical Machine Learning for Quantum Technologies.

About the seminar: In this talk, I will give an overview of current efforts to employ classical machine learning for quantum technologies. Recent years have seen machine learning techniques like deep neural networks revolutionize many fields of science and technology. Since about 2016, they are being applied increasingly with success to challenges for quantum technologies. Examples include the use of neural networks for interpreting measurement results, generation of novel experimental setups, and deep reinforcement learning for discovering strategies in quantum control and feedback or for optimizing quantum circuits.
